SU Firenze & Pisa 2024: Feel like the Grand Duke of Tuscany
Travel back in time and feel like a Duke or Duchess: Cristian and Irene (AEGEE-Firenze) and Daniele (AEGEE-Pisa) tell us why you can’t miss their Summer University. It takes place from 9 to 22 August 2024.
GT: What’s the main topic of your SU?
SU team: We will bring our participants back in time, when Tuscany was ruled by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. They will be treated as they were the Duke himself visiting the Duchy: they’ll see the most breathtaking places and try the best local food!
GT: Why did you choose the topic?
SU team: Firenze and Pisa used to be the most important cities of the Grand Duchy. Moreover, our main theme will be historical and we will visit many different places, but they all have something in common: they all bloomed during the Grand Duchy!
GT: What will be the thematic highlights?
SU team: Our cities are lucky to be famous worldwide, but tourists often miss the interaction with the locals. We will lead our participants through the most important landmarks and let them experience them through the eyes of local students.
GT: Which cities and landmarks will you visit?
SU team: Visiting Florence and Pisa by itself could be already called the main highlight. But we also wanted to add some spice to it: Uffizi Museum with Botticelli’s Venus and many other famous paintings, Elba Island and Cinque Terre.
GT: What else will you do for fun?
SU team: Have you ever tried to properly use Italian hand gestures? This will be your chance to learn how to do that! And, of course, we will have parties on the beach, in the city, on the river banks and maybe in some other unexpected places.
GT: How much is the fee and what is included?
SU team: If you count Cinque Terre as Five Places, we will visit 10 different cities and towns, most of them Unesco sites. Local culture and cooking workshops, great Italian food and wine and beach days, all these and some more for the total amount of 299 Euros!
GT: There is also an optional fee. How much is it and what is included?
SU team: If ten wasn’t enough, you can add three new towns on Elba Island and the visit to Uffizi Galley for an extra of 50 Euros!
GT: Who is the ideal participant?
SU team: Open minded, easy going, heat-resistant, long-distances walker, Italian art and food lover, party animal… but first of all, willing to spend 12 days among great friends from everywhere in Europe sharing amazing experiences.
GT: What makes AEGEE-Firenze and AEGEE-Pisa so special?
SU team: We often have participants from the same antennas over the years, maybe because past participants had such a good impression that they are willing to suggest our SU to others! We organize our SUs maintaining high standards and our participants love it!
