“The Serbian Wedding was the Highlight”
At the Summer University “The AstoNISing SU!” 18 participants learned a lot about Serbian culture. AEGEE-Niš organized the event from 25 July to 8 August 2022.
Golden Times: What was your Summer University about?
AEGEE-Niš: Our SU was about the culture, tradition and history of our city, but also of Serbia. We tried to present our city and its surroundings, both with tours and various activities. We visited the mountains in the vicinity of Niš, went to Pirot, saw the museum in Pirot, the national costumes, tried the local Pirot cheese.
GT: How many participants and organisers did you have?
AEGEE-Niš: We had 18 participants and almost our whole organization participated, including the president, secretary, helpers, about 15 of us.
GT: What were the greatest thematic programme highlights of the SU?
AEGEE-Niš: The Serbian wedding, it seems to us that our guests liked it a lot, because they got to know our wedding customs. Or the folklore workshop, where they learned traditional Serbian dances.
GT: What were the funniest or most exciting moments?
AEGEE-Niš: The most interesting event was when the Spaniards held a sangria workshop, it happened absolutely spontaneously and everyone wanted to participate, after that we had an Angel and Devil themed party.
GT: How was the group of participants?
AEGEE-Niš: The group of participants was phenomenal, they got along very well with each other, respected every agreement and did not cause any problems.
GT: How did you manage to integrate the group of participants? Any special advice?
AEGEE-Niš: We don’t have any special advice, except that you believe in what you are doing and have good energy, people notice when you love something and when you work hard and therefore they appreciate it even more.
GT: How successful was the SU overall?
AEGEE-Niš: Our SU was very interesting, we met a lot of new people, who were interested in getting to know our city and country. We had very nice moments and created wonderful memories. It went very well! We hope to meet somewhere in Europe! AEGEEan greetings!
