“Our TSU was all about Hogwarts!”

“Wingardium LevioSU: I SUmmerly swear that I am up to no good”: What a title for the Travelling Summer University by AEGEE-Nijmegen & AEGEE-Tilburg, which took place from 12 to 27 July 2019!

Golden Times: What was your Summer University about?
Annelot Wennekes, main organiser: It was all about Hogwarts! Our students got to experience the Dutch Muggle life for two weeks.

GT: How many participants and how many organisers did you have?
Annelot: We had twelve lovely students and eleven teachers, also known as organisers.

GT: What were the greatest thematic programme highlights of the SU?
Annelot: Well, that would be visiting the forbidden caves in Maastricht, the air humidity there is constantly 98%, #funfact. Another amazing event would have been the Butterbeer tasting by one of our lovely Tilburg teachers. The best highlight would be our optional day programme: visiting the Efteling, the most magical theme park you’ll ever visit!

GT: What were the funniest or most exciting moments?
Annelot: Every day was filled with fun and exciting moments, a lot of lights went on and off inside our heads. The accidental all-nighter or the Villa Volta are precious memories for me.

GT: How was the group of participants? How did you manage to integrate them?
Annelot: Lovely, I wish I could adopt all of them. The integration went very naturally, everybody loved Harry Potter very much, so it gave us already a common interest since before the beginning of the SU.

GT: How was the cooperation in the team? Any special moment you would mention here?
Annelot: The general mood was “itchy itchy scratchy scratchy”, some of our teachers including me became a victim of the itchy caterpillar. It’s a real thing in the Netherlands, #GlobalWarming! Despite that we were a great team together, we had tons of fun organising and citing memes together.

GT: How was the romance factor of the SU? And what were the highlights from the gossip box?
Annelot: One couple already existed, or did they… Well it’s hard to say, some people may never know! As for the rest of the group, couples have been formed, love was lost and found during these two weeks.

GT: How successful was the SU overall?
Annelot: I would give this SU an “Always”/10

Annelot: Mischief managed!
