AEGEE-Bakı SU 2025: Dive into Azerbaijan’s culture
From 1 to 14 August 2025, AEGEE-Bakı invites you to experience “Beat the Heat Vol. IV” – a Summer University that blends adventure and tradition, from the vibrant streets of Baku to the breathtaking peaks of the Caucasus Mountains. There are 25 spots available.
GT: What is the title and what is the main topic of your SU?
AEGEE-Bakı: The title of our Summer University is “Beat The Heat Vol. IV.” This year, we are focusing on local culture, offering participants an immersive experience into Azerbaijan’s rich traditions, music, dance, and heritage. Through interactive workshops, cultural tours, and engaging activities, we aim to bring the essence of our local identity to life.
GT: Why did you choose the topic?
AEGEE-Bakı: Azerbaijan is a land of diverse cultures, deeply rooted traditions, and unique customs that deserve to be explored and celebrated. We want participants to experience the vibrant spirit of our country – from traditional dances and folk music to authentic cuisine and historical landmarks. By choosing this topic, we aim to foster a deep appreciation for cultural heritage while promoting intercultural dialogue and exchange.
GT: What will be the greatest thematic programme highlights?
AEGEE-Bakı: Participants will take part in immersive cultural workshops, including traditional Azerbaijani music and dance sessions, an Azerbaijani language and calligraphy workshop, and a hands-on cooking experience. Additionally, we will hold a multiculturalism and tolerance workshop to explore the diverse ethnic and religious communities in Azerbaijan. Interactive storytelling and art sessions will bring Azerbaijani folklore to life, creating a deeper connection to the country’s heritage.
GT: Which cities and landmarks will you visit?
AEGEE-Bakı: We will explore the Caucasus Mountains, with hikes through Khinalig and Guba, discovering breathtaking landscapes and ancient villages. Then, we will have Baku city adventures – exploring the historic Old City, the Heydar Aliyev Center, and vibrant bazaars. And finally, we will have unforgettable Parties – themed events such as the 80s-90s Party, International Youth Day celebration, and a farewell beach party.
GT: What else will you do for fun?
AEGEE-Bakı: Participants will enjoy a Karaoke Night, a boat tour, a pub crawl, and a thrilling quest through the Old City. They will also have the chance to showcase their talents in a spirited competition and experience a surprise destination that will leave them amazed!

Also in 2024 the Summer University visited the Heydar Aliyev Center.
GT: How much is the fee and what is included in it?
AEGEE-Bakı: The fee is 250 euro, which covers accommodation, two delicious meals per day, transportation during the event, workshops, city tours, and most activities. It also includes entrance fees to cultural sites and access to all thematic and leisure events.
GT: How much is the optional fee and what is included in it?
AEGEE-Bakı: The optional fee is 50 euros and includes additional experiences such as a guided tour of the Heydar Aliyev Center, horse riding, wine tasting, a visit to the first-ever tanker museum (Surakhani Ship Museum), an excursion to Ateshgah, and a tour of the Carpet Museum.
GT: Who is the ideal participant?
AEGEE-Bakı: We are looking for curious, open-minded explorers who are eager to embrace new experiences, learn from different cultures, and engage with local traditions. The ideal participant should be respectful, adaptable, and willing to step out of their comfort zone – whether that means tasting new foods, dancing to traditional music, or joining cultural discussions.
