SU Kraków and Warszawa 2023: Polish Culture meets Social Equity
When two great AEGEE branches join forces, then the result can only be fantastic. AEGEE-Kraków & AEGEE-Warszawa are inviting you to their Summer University “How you met your Summer?”. The event with a focus on local culture takes place from 26 July to 7 August.
GT: What is the main topic of your SU this year?
SU Team: Our main topic is local culture, but we also want to include in our programme some workshops about social equity. We will show our participants the best parts of Poland and our traditions.
GT: Why did you choose the topic?
SU Team: Both Warszawa and Kraków have a very interesting history, culture and traditions that we are happy to share with our participants as well as share some best practices about inclusivity.
GT: What will be the thematic programme highlights?
SU Team: A sign language workshop, a cooking workshop with pierogi and a traditional Polish wedding in the countryside.
GT: Which cities and landmarks will you visit?
SU Team: We will show our participants two of the biggest cities in Poland – Warszawa and Kraków – as well as getting some well-deserved rest in the countryside near the Tatra Mountains.
GT: What will you do for fun?
SU Team: We plan on having some fun thematic parties, with the highlight of the traditional Polish wedding and a European Night. There will also be a bonfire, a city game and a pub crawl.
GT: How much is the fee and what is included in it?
SU Team: The fee is 168 Euro with 12 days of accommodation in dormitories in Warszawa and Kraków, a countryside house accommodation in the Tatra Mountains, transportation between the accommodation, at least two meals a day and all of our workshops and attractions!
GT: How much is the optional fee and what is included in it?
SU Team: 50 Euro – we are going to Energylandia, the largest amusement park in Poland!
GT: Who is the ideal participant?
SU Team: A person who is stoked to explore Eastern European culture and isn’t afraid to dive into conversations about social equity. Someone who would like to discover the beauty and historical part of Poland, who loves discussions and is not afraid about all-night parties.
GT: What can you tell us about your AEGEE locals, what makes it special or famous?
SU Team: AEGEE-Warszawa has become more and more active on the European Level of AEGEE in recent years. In 2022 we had an amazing SU with the title “Take a shot of mindfulness” and this year we were able to host both a Regional Training Course and a Safe Person Training where we met incredible groups of people, so it’s no surprise that we want to do it again.
AEGEE-Kraków is one of the more active antenna in Europe. We were the host of the Spring Agora 2018 and the European Planning Meeting 2023, and this time we want to create an event where apart from taking part in interesting workshops and discussions, the participants have a chance to explore our beautiful city. Our two AEGEE antennae have been supporting each other in the events we both organised and we believe that coming together will create a great representation of Polish culture!
GT: Where can interested people find out more about your SU?
SU Team: A lot of the information can be found on our MyAEGEE page. We are also active on Instagram (@su.warszawa.krakow). In case anyone has further questions, we are happy to answer at su.warszawa-krakow@aegee.eu!
GT: Do you have a message to potential applicants?
SU Team: If you want to be part of the best Summer University and create unforgettable memories that you can in the future describe as “How I met my SUmmer…”, this will be the perfect place for you! We can’t wait to see your applications!
