AEGEE-Praha’s SU 2023: Explore Yourself and Czechia
This year’s Summer University of AEGEE-Praha “Too Hot To Czech It” takes you on several journeys: We will explore the relationships our participants have with themselves and others”, explains the Czech AEGEE branch. In addition, the 22 participants will also get a close look at the country – from busy Prague to the mountains. The fee is 160 Euro plus an optional fee of 26 Euro. The dates are 3rd to 13th of July and the application deadline is 7th of May 2023.
GT: What is the main topic of your SU this year?
AEGEE-Praha: This year we are taking on a new hot topic. We will explore the relationships our participants have with themselves; and then we will give space to work on their relationships with others. But as you know, “Too Hot To Handle” – or in our case “Too Hot To Czech It” – is also about partying and having a good time, which will definitely not be missed during the SU.
GT: Why did you choose the topic?
AEGEE-Praha: Our new board wanted to try something that we can relate to – and every member thinks it is a very current topic that should be addressed. All of our organizers really enjoy preparing the programme, workshops and background story of the SU!
GT: What will be the greatest thematic programme highlights of the SU?
AEGEE-Praha: We want to have a continuous process visible in our workshops. That’s why we will start with work on self-reflection and personal worth, because first we need to understand ourselves to have a better relationships with others. Then in the second half of the SU we plan to have workshops related to interpersonal relations where we will work on our communication, listening skills or understanding of boundaries.
GT: Which cities and landmarks will you visit?
AEGEE-Praha: We will give our participants enough time and planned activities to explore Prague to the fullest, but we also want to show that Czechia is not only about our main city. That’s why we will visit Plzeň, where is another Czech AEGEE antenna is located, and the beautiful king city Hradec Králové. We think that the highlight of the SU will be last part happening in the Great Mountains, where we will be surrounded by beautiful nature, which we will enjoy in our cottage or via trips to the wilderness.
GT: What will you do for fun?
AEGEE-Praha: We want to have our SU balanced in the best way possible, so apart from many parties we plan to have relaxing and funny nights at our accommodation playing board games, pub quizzes or a room rally. If the weather will be nice, we want to spend one day at an outdoor swimming pool.
GT: How much is the fee and what is included in it?
AEGEE-Praha: The fee is 175 Euro. It includes accommodation and two meals per day, but also a visit to a brewery and access to the swimming pool. As we want to show our participants as much from Czechia as possible, transportation is a big part of the fee also. Last but least, we want to help our participants to gain as much from our educational and leisure programme as possible, that’s why we’ll be giving them a welcome gift that will help them to store their memories.
GT: How much is the optional fee and what is included in it?
AEGEE-Praha: Due to some changes in the programme, the optional fee will be 26 Euro and it will include a pub crawl through the most typical Czech pubs. The second part is the admission fee to the Tree Top Trail in the Great Mountains, which will allow our participants to walk through the treetops and enjoy the views of the surroundings from an unconventional point of view.
GT: Who is the ideal participant?
AEGEE-Praha: We are looking for people open to a self-exploration journey, who want to work on themselves in a safe way while enjoying themselves in a group of like-minded people in the centre of Europe. Thanks to the fact of how diverse our night programme will be, we are also looking for people who can enjoy themselves regardless of the party music or the amount of alcohol consumed – all they need is a good atmosphere while being surrounded by cool people.
GT: What can you tell us about your AEGEE branch, what makes it special or famous?
AEGEE-Praha: Our local branch is special thanks to having a quite young and new board that is motivated to create great events. At the same time we have a close relationship with the other two Czech antennas in Plzeň and Brno, which gives us the chance to present the whole Czech country or to have more organizers during the SU from different backgrounds. We very pretty great few years ago, having more than 200 members, now we are trying to get back to that, which is a long, daring project, which we hope will work out.
GT: Where can interested people find out more about your SU?
AEGEE-Praha: All important info is here, where you also can apply. Soon we will start sharing info about the preparations on Instagram.
GT: Do you have a message to potential applicants?
AEGEE-Praha: No matter if you are a fan of famous Netflix shows or not, this is not important to enjoy our SU – AEGEE spirit, open-mindedness and the readiness to try new things is all you need to join us. We are looking forward to every applicant!
